What is Student Government Association?

The purpose of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Mayland Early college is to be the voice of the student body. SGA represents the different graduating classes by making decisions about events at the school, such as dances and prom, provides community service opportunities for students, and may be consulted by the faculty for student opinions on matters that affect the school. This group meets as needed throughout the school year, generally once a week. Members join at the beginning of the school year and membership is open to all students who maintain a C or above at each alpha board check. Members are expected to attend all meetings for the year (up to three may be excused). The student body will also elect the SGA officers to represent them for the calendar year. Officers will be the only voting members of SGA BUT will be required to listen to the views of all members attending the meeting and to consider the fact that they are representatives of the entire student body.
