NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR BIDS LAWN CARE SERVICES

MITCHELL COUNTY SCHOOLS 2025-2028


Mitchell County Schools is accepting sealed bids for Lawn Care services for 2025-2028. Those submitting bids must bid all individual buildings separately. All bids must be returned in an envelope labeled “LAWN CARE SERVICES BID – 2025- 2028” to the attention of Assistant Superintendent of the Mitchell County Schools – Mr. Kevin M. Huskins, 72 Ledger School Road, Bakersville, North Carolina, 28705, (828) 766-2220. Bid packages will be available at the Mitchell County Administrative Offices beginning Monday, March 24, 2025.


DATE DUE:

Sealed written bids clearly marked ‘LAWN CARE SERVICES BID – 2025-2028” are due no later than 10 AM EST, FRIDAY, April 4th, 2025. All bids must be sent to the attention of Mr. Kevin M. Huskins, 72 Ledger School Road, Bakersville, NC 28705. Bids received after 10 AM will automatically be disqualified. All bids will be brought to the attention of the Mitchell County Board of Education. The contract will begin April, 2025 and end November, 2028.

The request for bid does not commit the Mitchell County Schools to any specific course of action. Mitchell County Schools reserves the right to not select any vendor or not purchase any goods and/or services resulting from this bid request.


CONTRACT:

The written bid shall include a proposed contract for all materials and services provided, including all equipment that is owned and used to fulfill this contract. The contract for the winning vendor(s) shall be reviewed and is subject to revision by the Mitchell County Schools’ legal counsel. An insurance certificate for liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 naming Mitchell County Schools as the insured shall accompany the contract. The vendor must also provide a North Carolina Pesticide Use License per the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS).  Finally, vendors are expected to have knowledge of turf management (via 4-year degree or prior years of experience)

SCOPE OF WORK: The required services include, but are not limited to:

  1. The vendor shall provide lawn care services (mowing, weed eating, weed control, etc.) at each contracted site.

  2. Please list details of all services to be provided at each site as requested by MCS on a separate sheet.

  3. Vendors are to follow all school rules and regulations while performing these services on site.

  4. Vendors must exercise care to all existing trees and shrubs and other structures in and around the facilities. Vendors are responsible for any cost incurred from damage.

  5. All damages to school district facilities must be reported to the Supervisor of Facilities on the day of the occurrence.

  6. Appropriate time for work must be approved by the school principal in an effort not to disturb instructional activity.

  7. All vendors are required to provide a calendar of scheduled work at each school (weather permitting) along with contact phone numbers.
