We would like to invite all retired personnel from Mitchell County Schools to a special grand opening and ribbon cutting for Mitchell Elementary School and Mitchell Middle School. This will be held on Thursday, August 8th at 5:30pm, with dinner following the opening celebration. Are you interested in becoming a bus driver?

We have lots of information to share with you over the next few weeks as we begin a new school year! First, we want you to know that Mitchell Elementary and Mitchell Middle are on schedule for opening! Teachers will report on Monday, August 5 and students will start school in the new building on Monday, August 19!

Mitchell County Schools will host a community meeting to update local residents about the vacant Deyton Elementary and Harris Middle School buildings. The meeting will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Harris Middle School Auditorium.

Mitchell County Schools was notified late this afternoon by Mitchell County Health Department that a student at Mitchell High School has been diagnosed with pertussis (whooping cough). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Mitchell County Health Department or Mitchell High School on Monday.


Sports Physicals for the 2024-25 school year will be given on Thursday, May 9 at Mitchell High School. If you are planning on participating in a middle or high school sport, this is a great opportunity to get your required physical!

We believe the issue with the Apple App Store and our MCS app has been resolved. You can now search for and download the MCS app again. If you don't have it, we encourage you to download it. It's FREE and it provides beneficial information from all our schools.

It has come to our attention that our MCS app on the app store is no longer available for download. We are contacting the company and resolving the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience while we figure it out!
SUN Bucks: A new food assistance program for school children.
Starting this summer, families that qualify can expect to receive $120 per eligible child in grocery-buying benefits on a debit-like card. These benefits can be used to purchase food at retailers that accept EBT, including most major grocery stores.

IMPORTANT: Some families will get benefits automatically sent to the mailing address in their child’s school record. Update your child’s mailing address by contacting your child’s school.
