Celebrating CTE Month February 2025!

Congratulations to students in Mrs. Peterson's Block 3 Food and Nutrition Class 1 for passing their ServSafe Food Handler Certification.

The Conover Workplace Readiness Certification is a program designed to help individuals demonstrate their readiness for employment by evaluating and certifying key skills that are essential for success in the workplace. It focuses on a range of competencies that are critical for professional development, including soft skills and work habits.
The Conover MECA certification can be particularly valuable for honors students as they focus on completing a specific career path by helping them align their strengths with the demands of their chosen field. For example, an honors student pursuing a career in healthcare or business can use the certification to enhance their emotional intelligence, improve workplace communication, and develop motivation techniques that will make them more effective in team-based environments or leadership roles. As students gain deeper self-awareness and career insights through the certification, they are better equipped to navigate the emotional challenges and interpersonal dynamics of their chosen profession.
Great job!

Celebrate CTE Month February 2025!

Mrs. Taylor Hughes' first block Career Management class had 100% attainment on their Conover Workplace Readiness Certification. The Conover Workplace Readiness Program is a career preparation and soft skills development tool designed to help individuals become successful in the workplace. It's often used in schools, workforce development programs, and community organizations to prepare people for employment. The program emphasizes soft skills, which are critical for long-term success but are often overlooked in traditional education or job training. (Students: Zackary Baker, Graham Buchanan, James Burnett, Jacoby Dale, Madalyn Fleming, Alyssa Hughes, Christopher Masten, Jenniah McClain, Kyla Pfouts, Orlando Pindea-Ortiz, Noah Vines, and Owen Woody.)

📢 Attention Parents and Guardians!
We’re conducting a survey with our high school students to better understand their internet access at home. The information gathered will help us identify and assist students who may need support, including providing T-Mobile hotspots to those without reliable access.
💻 What You Need to Know: The survey will be conducted during school hours. If you do NOT want your child to participate in this survey, please call the school to opt-out.
Your input is invaluable! If your child is participating, we encourage you to discuss your household’s internet and cell service with them to ensure accurate responses. Here are the questions (mostly multiple choice) that will be on the survey:
Do you have reliable internet access at home?
If yes, what type of internet connection do you have at home?
Have you experienced any challenges with internet access at home?
How often do these challenges affect your ability to complete schoolwork?
How would you rate the cell service/signal in your home?
Would having a T-Mobile hotspot improve your ability to complete schoolwork?
If provided with a T-Mobile hotspot, how often would you use it for school work?
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your internet or cell service needs?
Together, we can help bridge the digital divide and set our students up for success! Thank you for your cooperation.

Mitchell County Schools will dismiss one-hour early today, Friday, December 20. We have been monitoring the weather throughout the day and anticipate snow arriving by 4:00pm this afternoon. We want to make sure all students are home safely. We hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing students again on January 2.

Thank you, Hobbton High, for your support! https://www.clintonnc.com/news/101513/a-graduation-gift
